The Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques (International Federation of Magic Societies) - FISM- is the International body bringing together the world's leading  magic societies.

The Federation has been created in 1948 and today consists of over 60 clubs, both national and international, as well as national Federations which represent nearly 50.000 Magicians from 32 countries.

Every three years they hold a World Championships of Magic in a different country.

In 1991 Tim Ellis attended his first FISM in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he performed his 'Six Card Rap'. This effect had a great impact on the 2000+ magicians in the audience; even David Copperfield said to Tim "Man, you rocked the house!" Tim was presented with a 'Special Prize of the Jury'.

In 1994 he attended FISM in Yokohama, Japan and competed in the category 'Micro Magic' (Close Up Magic). Here, with his cups and ball act 'Runaround Sue' he was awarded the 'Silver Medal' for Close Up Magic. The first and only Australian ever to win two FISM awards.

1n 1997 at FISM Den Haag Tim was honoured to be chosen to perform on the Close Up Gala Show together with such magic superstars as David Williamson, Ali Bongo, Eugene Berger, and Paul Gertner. Tim created hysterical chaos as he invited the audience to pelt him with fruit, only to discover a signed card inside a tossed lemon. Eugene Berger later said: "On several occasions I have seen Tim Ellis bring an audience to complete pandemonium. He is an exceptional comedy magician and I love his work."

In 2000 at FISM in Portugal, Spain, Tim and Sue-Anne watched every single competitor and wrote detailed reports about each one. You can read their FISM 2000 reports from 2000-2006 at www.fismreports.blogspot.com

In 2003 Tim was honoured by being the first Australian ever chosen to be on the FISM Jury. Not only that, but at the FISM in Den Haag, Netherlands, Tim and Sue-Anne appeared as guest artists on the Stage Gala Show, they presented a MagicSports Tournament with 'The Flicking Fingers', and Sue-Anne ran MagicSports workshops with Gaston. All of this, and Sue-Anne still managed to bring out another comprehensive report of every single FISM competitor which appeared in Magic Magazine. 

In 2006 FISM was held in Stockholm, Sweden. Tim was again on the Jury and Sue-Anne's report was published in a special issue of Genii Magazine.

In 2009 FISM will be held in Beijing, China.
